The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Gillotts School is a Directly Licensed Centre with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and, this year, we will have taken about 80 Year 9 students through their Bronze level and about 20 Year 10 students through their Silver.  Any Year 9 student is old enough to do their Bronze Award even if you do not turn 14 years old until the end of Year 9.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a real adventure from beginning to end. Eventually, you can do programmes at three levels leading to Bronze, Silver and Gold. You choose what you are going to do so your programme can be full of activities that get you buzzing. You will choose an activity in each of these 4 areas:

  • Physical
  • Skill
  • Volunteering
  • Expedition

Along the way you will pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Better still, having a DofE Award has been shown to make you stand out from the crowd when it comes to job and university applications.

If you have any queries, you can contact us at dofe@gillotts.org.uk. You can also visit https://www.dofe.org which has loads of useful information for participants and parents.
