Extra curricular overview

A wide range of extra-curricular activities take place on a regular basis. These are a very important part of school life and all students are encouraged to participate.

Our hour long lunchtime provides plenty of time for clubs and societies to take place. Activities also take place after-school and during some holidays. These include all sorts of exciting opportunities in a range of areas – including art, music, drama and robotics.

We also offer a full range of sports fixtures competing against many local schools and in regional and national competitions. While the main sports for girls are hockey, netball & athletics and football, rugby & cricket for boys we also participate in many other sports. Sports teams representing the school have been very successful nationally over the past few years in show-jumping and skiing for example.

Parents provide blanket consent for sporting fixtures on admission, via the Student Information Form. At the start of each year, a Google Classroom is set up for male and female team sports fixtures and all parents are sent the codes for them to join. All team lists for fixtures, including transport arrangements and timings, are posted in the relevant Google Classroom.  It is the responsibility of the participating student to remind their parent to check Google Classroom. Parents can withdraw their consent by emailing the teacher in charge of the fixture no later than 3.30pm on the day preceding the fixture. If team lists change after this point, staff will contact parents to check consent.  Written consent from parents is always required if a child is transported by another parent. It is the responsibility of the child, with the support of their parent, to ensure they take any required medication to the fixture.

A wide range of trips and visits also take place during the school year including residential trips both within the UK and abroad.
