Fashion Icon Competition – Tokyo Mode
Gillotts fashion club students have been very successful in this years national Fashion Icon Competition. The theme was ‘Tokyo Mode’ taking inspiration from Japanese street fashion, a style in which the wearer customizes outfits using a mixture of current and traditional trends. The students developed ideas through research, looking at modern Japanese culture, trends and the work of Japanese designers. They worked extremely hard on this project throughout the Autumn term and submitted the designs earlier this month.
Caroline Wilkinson (Year 9) has been selected for the national final and will be modelling her outfit on the catwalk at the NEC Fashion & Stitch Show in March 2016. Anna Tompkins (Year 9) work has been Highly Commended. Saffron Lockett, Alex Turner, Sasha Scott (Year 9) will have their work displayed on the Fashion Wall at the NEC. This is an amazing achievement for the students as there were many entries from schools across the country.
Congratulations to all students and we wish Caroline good luck in the final!
